Marlin 39 Tds Serial Numbers

Been a member for awhile, this is my firs post.
I have what I always believed was a Marlin TDS. It's marked TDS on the barrel, came with the black takedown case and the little white plastic 'keeper' to hold the bolt in place. Had a friend come over and when he looked at it he said it was a 'parts gun' because the serial number didn't start with TDS?

Serial number is 11143*** marked on the top tang and on the inside of receiver.
Did all TDS's have TDS in the serial number? Mine is an early manufacture (1988) was wondering if possibly the early guns weren't stamped differently.
Doesn't matter to me as I don't plan on selling it but would like to know the truth regarding history.
